CSKA Moscow - Manchester Utd 4.00 - 2.23
Can United cope without W Rooney, R Giggs, P Evra, D Fletcher and Ji Sung Park? Let me put it this way. Had United been without both Rooney and Ronaldo in a big game last season, you would certainly say that they would be severely weakened. Now Ronaldo is in Spain and Rooney is injured, Giggs, one of their best players this season, also injured, Fletcher, influential in European games, sidelined and no Evra or Park. Yes United will not be at their strongest tomorrow, that is for sure. Vidic will be back and Berbatov will also be available.
CSKA have match winners in their side like Dzagoev for instance and they play on an artificial surface. Giulherme was preferred to Necid upfront at the weekend and I only missed one of the Berezutsky brothers, who is out injured. CSKA can spring a surprise tomorrow. Worth backing maybe and the odds are just right.
FC Zurich - Marseille 4.11 - 2.00
After their surprising win away to Milan, the underdogs, Zurich, are in a very good position ahead of this match. In general Zurich are in very poor form however, despite their win against Milan. In the not so strong Swiss league they are 16 points adrift of the leaders. Hassli and Chiktaoui remain sidelined for the home side, but Buchel will be available.
Marseille? Well, they just have to win this match, or they can forget about success in this group.
Lucho Gonzalez, Heinze and Diawara were rested at the weekend, when they won 3-0 against Nancy. Valbuena, Niang and Ben Arfa went forward with success, one must say, but I expect Lucho to play from the start tomorrow, also Heinze in defence. I think that Marseille will edge this one.
Real Madrid - Milan 1.47 - 8.00
It is not often that you will get 8.00 on the Milan win, is it? Can they win this match? I do not think so, but the Real defence is sloppy from time to time and I think that Milan will be able to score a goal, or even two. I saw Milan winning against Roma the other day. They were not without luck, but at the same time I want to say that Ronaldinho was back to form. He was spreading his passes almost like in his hay days. Still no Ronaldo for Real, but tomorrow Kaka will be back from the start, playing against his old club. Guti is back in training, but Lass Diarra is a major doubt. Goals will be scored for sure and Real will most likely be the winners. 3-1 or 3-2
Chelsea - Atletico Madrid 1.37 - 10.85
Backing Osasuna on Sunday night against Atletico became so much easier, when Forlan was omitted from the A M squad. He will be ready for this match. Now I guess that his return will not help much. I do not really know what has happened to A Madrid. They always were a very unreliable side, mixing top and bottom displays, but nowadays they are only underachieving. In hindsight it was a joke to sack Aguirrre.
Chelsea must learn to defend, or should I say Carvalho must learn? I thought that Chelsea played a good game against Villa, but two set pieces from Villa resulted and Chelsea were on the losing side, a bit harshly. No Drogba tomorrow and he will be missed. Opposing A Madrid away to Porto felt right, because the odds were usable. This time, surely you cannot back this 1.37 on the Chelsea win, whatever you may think of the game. I mean A Madrid are potentially a strong side and in Forlan they have one of the best finishers in the business.
Porto - Apoel Nicosia 1.25 - 17.07
It looks like Apoel have big defensive worries ahead of this difficult away fixture. Both their regular defenders, Haxhi and Poursaitidis, will be missing and they have to play Broerse in defence, just back from a long term injury.
Porto are seldom a very generous side in their European home fixtures. No, they must be considered as one of the strongest home teams in Europe and they will not waste this seemingly easy winning chance. Home win.
